Independent Music Producer & Instrumentalist T-Mic Beats
T-Mic first became interested in music production while in college for Graphic Design in 2006. It all started while searching for some background music and sound effects to go along with several projects he was working on including animations, websites, and local skateboarding videos. While on his search he stumbled upon Propellerheads Reason 4, after trying out a demo version and making a few rough drum tracks for background music in design projects, he was hooked enough to purchase the full version. Propellerheads Reason also gave him the opportunity to explore his long time interest in Hip Hop music, which he credits to growing up in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, and listening to many of the greats, with Eminem, Dr. Dre, Timbaland, and Scott Storch being his main musical influences at the time.
After a few months of exploring music production, T-Mic decided to create a Myspace band page for his music and post a few hip hop beats online. To his surprise, within hours of uploading beats onto his band page, artists began reaching out with interest in purchasing the beats to record their own songs to. T-Mic continued to use Myspace’s platform as an opportunity to reach out to artists and gained a friends list totaling over 74,000 friends.
As time went on T-Mic decided to branch out to more online music platforms. T-Mic joined Soundclick and began posting beats in the Beats/Instrumental category. While on soundclick he had many beats that climbed the charts and even hit the #1 spot on more than one occasion, generating more than 6 Million total plays over the course of his stay. During his time on Soundclick, he also spread his music and reached new fans on sites such a ReverbNation, Beatstars, MyFlashStore,Beat Brokerz, Twitter, Facebook, Soundcloud, DatPiff, and YouTube.
T-Mic eventually decided to leave Soundclick and combine another one of his childhood interests into his music career, which was creating websites. He has since built 3 different sites for tmicbeats.com, along with several other sites for record labels and independent musicians.
Outside of the online world, T-Mic frequently attended local hip hop shows, open mics, and other events in Minneapolis and its surrounding areas. After years of supporting the scene and networking with local artists, he has produced tracks for 100’s of artists in the state of Minnesota.
T-Mic has dedicated the majority of his career to working with up and coming independent artists but has also produced for a few major acts including Gemstones, Mistah FAB, Lil Wyte, JellyRoll, The Dirtball Of Kottonmouth Kings, Keak Da Sneak, Yukmouth, Turf Talk, and D-Lo. Music produced by T-Mic has hit the Billboard Top 200 & Heatseekers Charts, received airplay on MTV & VH1, and been featured on popular hip hop sites such as HipHopDX, Rapzilla, Thizzler, and Thisis50.
